Robby's Demo Reel (ABP Style) from A Bryan Photo on Vimeo.
Today, sadly, is Robby's last day to work for A Bryan Photo. He is moving to LA to try his hand at acting and entertaining America. We are sad to see him go, but at the same time, we are excited about his new opportunities. Since I'm kind and loving, I decided to help him with a promotional video that he can send to producers and directors that will hopefully land him some "gigs" in the "biz". Who knows, maybe we will one day see him on "The 'Bu"!
Good luck, Robby!
We look forward to seeing where you go.
I'm trying to talk Robby into joining me for WPPI in Vegas in a few weeks.
Also, any photographer in the LA area who may be looking for a part time studio mananger, drop a line in the comments because Robby would be amazing for you!

Jaime and Mac Preview

I just got the film back from Jaime and Mac's wedding in Sea Island. I had to post these few that completely grabbed my attention!
UPDATED! A Bryan Photo Presents: The Last Five Years
The Last Five Years from A Bryan Photo on Vimeo.
Get ready. This is by far the most progressive and interesting event we have ever put on in the A Bryan Photo studio.
February 12-14 from 8:00-9:30 (doors open at 7:15) at the A Bryan Photo Studio
Synopsis:
Jason Robert Brown's, The Last Five Years, tells the story of the failed marriage of Jamie and Cathy, a successful author and a failing actress, from both points of view. As Jamie moves forward in time from their first date to their inevitable divorce, Cathy moves from their divorce backwards to the night they first met. The two time lines intersect on the wedding day, making for an ironic, beautiful, and poignant story about human selfishness and the nature of love. Starring are Chelsea Reynolds as Cathy and Matthew J. Godfrey as Jamie.

Our Polaroids Posted on Frolic! Blog

I'm so happy to have been connected to Chelsea, who runs the Frolic! blog out of Portland. Her designs and ideas are so inspiring, unique, and fresh. I noticed that she posted a lot of Polaroids on her blog, so I decided to send her a few of our wedding polaroids. Yesterday we were honored to see that she did a post on us, running a beautiful polaroid that Caleb grabbed of Meg & Kyle this past summer.
Check out her post HERE!
She also linked to a video of me making Darby and Geordie's polaroid book this summer:

Kate & Wes, November 8th 2008

I'm so honored to present the wedding of Kate and Wes! They got married on November 8th in Birmingham. Of all the weddings I've ever done in this town, this is the most spectacular. The wedding took place at Mountain Brook Community Church, with a breath taking reception at her father's house in Mountain Brook. Kate had always had a fond appreciation for her dad's house and wanted to create more memories in a place she treasured. The day had many fabulous touches, but most of all it was a true party that went long into the night.
Here are some of our favorite images from the wedding day!
Wes and his groomsmen (and family).
The Ceremony.
One special touch was Wintley Phipps singing two songs during the wedding.

The Reception!
What a party it was, with Steve Tyrell singing the first dance, crab claws from Joe's in Miami, and the rest of the food from Birmingham's renowned Hot and Hot Fish Club. The party was thumping all night though because of RIght On!
Congrats to you both!
A Bryan Photo on Style Me Pretty's Blog!

We were completely honored when Theresa of Style Me Pretty asked us to write a guest blog post for their Little Black Book Blog. They wanted us to share our thoughts on film and why we shoot it. Rob wrote it for us and did an amazing job. The post also features images from one of our favorite weddings from this past summer, Darbie and Geordie.

Courtney & Jeremy, November 1st 2008

I'm happy to post the wedding of one of my favorite couples of the year. I didn't get to meet Courtney (and her mom and her sister, Charlotte) until the week of the wedding. Despite this, I felt instantly connected to them. They all had a quirky sense of humor, great love of family, and an appreciation for our work! What couldn't we like about these people! Courtney also mentioned that she loved our tricks videos and, because we love her, we made a video for her (to be viewed at the bottom of this post!).
The wedding was beautiful, and I loved getting to meet and hang out with Jeremy as well. I really hope that we get them to come hang out with us up in Birmingham!
Here's a couple photos of Courtney with her brother Victor and her sister, Charlotte. The first is obviously from the wedding day. Courtney emailed me the photo (on the right) of the three of them when they were young and I had to share it on the blog! Victor is a training to be a priest in Rome,Italy. He was kind enough to show my sister-in-law Natalie (and her friends) all around Rome while they were there on a trip earlier this month. Thanks Victor! So glad you could get connected to more of my family!

I have to share this 8mm! Branden just finished editing it (shot by Rob), and I wanted to share it before the weekend!
Jeremiah and Sarah are currently flying high at the Grand Canyon, and thought they needed to know we are still thinking of them in Birmingham.
If you missed the post about them last week, click HERE. They bought an RV and they are spending 3 months traveling around America. They are keeping a blog about all their travel adventures. Check it out HERE!

Enjoy.
Amanda & Josh

Similar to what I did with Paula and Kevin (an impromptu photoshoot), I also did with Jon Davis' assistants, Amanda and Josh. I stayed in a house with all of Jon's crew and on Sunday morning, before I left for the airport, I convinced this beautiful young married couple to let me to run off a roll of them outside in the snow!

Paula & Kevin

As I stated in a previous blog post this week, I got to film Ann and Tyler's wedding in Sundance because the amazing coordinator Paula Wadley is a huge fan of our work and has been telling her clients to bring us along wherever she goes. We can't complain! Whenever we book a wedding with her, we know the event and the couple are going to be remarkable ( Helen & Ansel, Allene & Anderson, and now Ann & Tyler). On the day of the wedding, Paula, Kevin (her husband) and I were driving around the snow laden mountain trying to restore some order to a chaotic situation. The roads were icing over, cars were wrecking, and guests were getting stranded in their homes higher in the mountain. Despite all this, the snowstorm was so beautiful and I didn't want to miss out on an opportunity to get some great snow images. Even though I was there only to shoot 8mm, I brought my Rollei and LOMO along with me just in case. I convinced Paula and Kevin to give me 4 minutes just grab a few shots of the two of them, even though we were crunched for time! I'm so glad they let me!

A New Macbook Pro!

I finally waived goodbye to my PowerBook G4 this week. It has been with me for the past 5 1/2 years and I needed to move on. I am LOVING the new MacBook Pro. It's so fast, thin and beautiful.
Below is a video I made with my built in iSight camera, which is a complete novelty to me. Branden and I were meeting to discuss changes that we are gonna be working on for the website. It will be awhile before they are implemented but we wanted to get all our ideas on paper and come up with a plan for moving forward. It's absolute drivel, so don't watch it unless you are really bored. Seriously.

Ann & Tyler 8mm from A Bryan Photo on Vimeo.
Here is the 8mm film from Ann and Tyler's wedding this past December in Sundance, Utah. The day of the wedding, the first snowfall of the season came roaring through the resort. It made it tough logistically, but the trade off (a winter wonderland backdrop) was well worth it. Thanks again to Paula Wadley (coordinator) and Jon Davis (event design) for bringing me with them! Working with you two makes life worth livin'.
Enjoy!

Bridge in Charleston

I shot this with my LOMO at dusk while on a way to a shoot last month.
Katy & Landon, October 25th 2008

"I hate to break it to you Caleb, but you and Chase are going to have to drive up to North Carolina right when the leaves are changing. You'll have to stay in an old mountain hotel, and shoot in a crazy good location (Old Edwards Inn). Oh yeah, and the bride and groom are nothing but wonderful people....do you think ya'll can handle that?"
.....
"Yes. I think we can."
Highlights of the wedding:
1) The apple orchard.
2) The pond.
3) Portrait Studio (always a plus)
4) The ground was soft, so Katy had to use her high-heels as foot-pick-axes (?) to walk up a hill (very funny to see!)
5) Katy & Landon were so go with the flow. My absolute favorite.

Lauren and Tim, The 8mm
Caleb posted the wedding of Lauren and Tim last week on the blog and I wanted to also show their stunning 8mm as well.
Filmed by Rob Culpepper and edited by Branden Lower, this may be one of my all time favorites!

Ring Around America - Sarah & Jeremiah

Many of you know Jeremiah Sizemore who has done consulting work for my company over the last two years. Jeremiah got married to the beautiful Sarah Wolf 2 weeks ago in Montgomery, and I had the privilege of photographing it. You may be wondering why there are photos of them on/around an RV. Well, they decided to buy an RV and take a 3 month honeymoon around the US. They actually left their wedding in the RV and headed to St. George's Island for a week before heading west (they are currently somewhere near the Texas/ New Mexico border).
The coolest thing about it all is they actually started a blog that documents all of their travels and adventures. They are keeping it well updated with photos, videos, and stories. I STRONGLY recommend following their blog because its really cool!
Check out their blog HERE.
Also, they created a separate website that shows their route and actually allows friends to donate stretches of the trip to them as a wedding present... call it a traveling registry! I'm trying to convince Jeremiah to be in Las Vegas in February while I'm at WPPI so I can stay with them for a few nights in their portable home.
FOLLOW their route HERE.
I will share just a few quick videos that I stole from their blog.
Here is one of them making pancakes in the RV.
Here is one of them showing off the Polaroid book we gave them as they left the reception!
Here's a quick preview of a few favorite images...the rest of them should be up by the end of this week!
The A Bryan Photo team! (Well, most of us)

Erica & Kamal, October 25th 2008

Here are some of our favorite images from Erica and Kamal's beautiful wedding in South Carolina. Erica and Kamal met in Law School at Michigan and may be the smartest couple I've ever photographed! They were an absolute delight they were to work with. Erica has such an infectious personality and is always so excited every time I talked to her leading up to their wedding. South Carolina holds a special place in Erica's heart, has they would travel down from Michigan every year to stay at the beach with great family friends. It was only fitting that she have her wedding in South Carolina at one of the greatest venues in the Southeast, Palmetto Bluff!
