Cypress Fine Albums, who produces all of our albums & physical offerings for our clients, recently made a promotional video and I want to share it with you! Cypress is located in Glendale California where all of their products are handcrafted by their staff of artisans. I got the chance to tour their bindery last summer and was blown away by the effort and care that go into each album, matte, and box that they create. Much like Richard Photo Lab (who I posted on last week), Cypress cares about our clients as much as we do. They consistently make the A Bryan Photo Studio look better with each album they ship.

I'm so proud that Dena Robertson will be attending our workshop next month and will be showing off a plethora of products! I recently got two new sample albums made by Cypress which I plan on making a video and showing off soon.

Our Personal Photos from Norway!

Since Ash and I have two small boys, its rare that she is able to travel with me to shoots like she used to. When we found out that I was going to be shooting Kari's sister's wedding in Norway (Kari is married to my brother Craig) we began making arrangements for her to join me on the trip. Ash's mom came to Birmingham for a week to watch the boys while we took our first international trip together in over two years! Here are a few shots of us on the trip, including some pics of our first attempt at cross country skiing! The trip was so great for the two of us to just get away and enjoy a new country together.
Here are a few of Craig and his family that I took (with my LOMO) the day after the wedding, outside the hotel where the reception took place.

Jaime & Mac, January 17th 2009

This wedding was special for me for many reasons. First, I LOVE any chance I get to shoot at Sea Island. Most view it as the South's premiere resort and it is SO enjoyable to photograph weddings there. It truly is hard to take a bad photo at Sea Island! I also was so honored to be photographing the wedding of Jaime, whose brother Taylor is a good friend of mine. Taylor is a writer in Birmingham and we have had the chance to work on some cool stories together over the years (Click HERE to see the story we did together on Jimmy Carter). I have had the privilege of knowing Jaime through Taylor and was so excited when she and Mac decided to use me for their wedding!
Jaime and Mac chose to structure their wedding different than most. They had a big and beautiful rehearsal dinner on Saturday night with a late morning ceremony on Sunday, followed by a brunch. The whole weekend was elegant, intimate, and oh so Southern...
The Guys.
The Ceremony.
Married!
The Brunch.
Thanks Jaime and Mac for allowing me to be part of your wedding!

Bill Pyne, Richard Photo Lab

Here is a photo of me and Bill Pyne of Richard Photo Lab! I grabbed this with my LOMO while at WPPI. Bill is my rep at Richard and is one of the most kind and genuine guys I know. Bill continually bends over backward to make A Bryan Photo look good. It feels so great to have vendors like Richard (& Cypress) on our team. They are people who believe in us and always try their hardest to allow us to thrive. I'm honored that Bill will be traveling to Birmingham for our workshop next month and sponsoring a dinner on the final evening.
Shay & Drew, Costa Rica Preview

I'm back in Birmingham after an amazing week/wedding in Costa Rica. It was one of the first times I truly relaxed in 5 years!
The wedding was beautiful. We shot 28 rolls of film, but for now here's a preview from a digital capture of the wedding day.
Shay and Drew, you are wonderful! Expect another preview next week when I get their film back from Richard Photo Lab!
In Costa Rica!

I'm in Costa Rica shooting Drew and Shay's wedding today. I've been here since Monday having a wonderful time with Josh and Branden. I got to photograph Drew and friends surfing this morning (in the water with LOMO and Holga) and I can't wait to start shooting Shay in a couple hours! Here are a few of their engagement shots I took in Orlando this past October.
Cheers!
Bryan

Carrie and Matt

A bride posed with cheeze (with a "z") smile, perfectly placed, with her head tilted just so, doesn't really interest me. A bride that is sweeping her dress back and forth, smiling, looking at everything with genuine wonder, in complete awe all of her blessings, her family, her friends, and her love...aka a bride BEING HERSELF, now that's interesting.
Movement is key. Why? It creates unexpected form. Richard Avendon knew this. He would take his models out on the streets of Paris (France, not Texas) and just have them run, jump, have fun! Because of this, the clothes and people would move in ways that made them alive and gave a sense that the day was full of life.

Carrie & Matt, here's to being alive and moving!

Anna & Paul Wedding

Anna & Paul are a couple who know how to have fun! Yes, there were tears, but there was mostly laughter (due to a lot of joy, and a lot of crazy bridal party members)!
This was a wedding where I decided I was going to take my time with each shot. I have found that many of my best pictures come not from reacting to what's going on, but being aware of what is happening, composing, and then waiting. When it happens, you click. When it doesn't, you move to another spot. A couple shots from their day are going to stay on my "Favorite Shots" list, for a very long while. Specifically the shot of all the girls walking to the ceremony in the dark.

Anna & Paul, this one's for you!
Peace. - Caleb

Ingebeth & Matthew, Preview of a Norwegian Wedding

I'm still a few weeks away from launching this wedding on my website but I just got the film in yesterday and I had to post a few! I cannot wait to show you the entire wedding, but for now enjoy this preview. Ingebeth & Matt, you are beautiful!

Melissa & Chris Preview
We are a few days away from launching Melissa and Chris' wedding in Atlanta last month. I'm SO excited about it and wanted to share a few of my favorite images as a quick preview.
I've been LOVING shooting high speed film recently. The last two shots of this post are shot with 1600, metered at 800 and pushed a stop. I love the contrast I've been getting in the images. Thoughts?

Adrienne & Caleb

Two things:
1) Adrienne is beautiful.
2) I trusted Caleb as soon as I met him (I'm a little bias toward the name).
Two more things:
1) Laid back people make the best wedding days.
2) The first black and white shot under this text is one of my favorite all time wedding shots....it just is.

Make sure you check out their album!
Peace. - Caleb
A Bryan Photo Workshop - April 20th-22nd, Birmingham

I'm proud to announce our first wedding photography workshop! After attending several workshops myself, listening to fellow photographer's needs and brainstorming with my staff, we have finally put together a workshop that is truly unique and worthwhile to any photographer who attends.
There are two main aspects about this workshop that make it so valuable...
1. The content. We will be covering all the nitty gritty details of how to run a successful wedding photography studio, and will be exploring such topics as shooting style, color correction, album design, finances, and vendor relations in great detail. We are also privileged to have our friend, Lara Casey from Southern Weddings, come and share her perspective on the wedding photography industry, and things you can do to stand out to vendors and coordinators.
2. The format. We've divided the workshop into four stations. Each will be taught by a different member of the ABP team on their respective role in the company and why it's important. This will allow you to receive personalized training in a group of 3 or 4 and gain specific knowledge that you can apply to your business immediately.
Ingebeth & Matt Polaroid

I just got back into the States from shooting an amazing wedding in Norway this weekend. I cannot wait to work on this wedding and post it later this month!
For now, here is a polaroid I shot outside the church of Ingebeth and Matt after the ceremony.
