You are looking at A Bryan Photo's Royal Family.
I photographed the weddings of Meg and Andrew in September of 2008, Emily and Monty in November 2009, and Emilii and Alex just booked us for their wedding in October 2010!
The family (minus Meg and Andrew) came to the A Bryan Photo studio last week to reminisce and also plan!
We walked to lunch during a rare Birmingham snow storm and I brought my LOMO and a roll of Kodak 400CN.

A Bryan Photo's 8mm Film Specialist

I recently took some new A Bryan Photo staff photos and I especially loved this one of Branden. For those that don't know, Branden is A Bryan Photo's production manager but most importantly, he's our 8mm film specialist. If you've never viewed his craftsmanship, just click here to view some of his films.
Branden is speaking next month at South by Southwest on a panel about the Power of Super 8 Film. Come join the discussion if you plan on attending SXSW!

Featured in Southern Weddings!

I'm so honored to have been featured in the current issue of Southern Weddings Magazine! The story is a great look into Birmingham's community of photographers and it features the four A Bryan Photo Team weddings I documented this past year. If you haven't seen this magazine, I highly recommend picking one up at a local bookstore. It's beautiful! To read the feature, download the PDF HERE.
Thanks again, SW Girls!

The article featured this incredible wedding by Cary Norton (one of my favorite weddings from last year):
Beth and Graham

It's rare that I get the honor of photographing a couple on a cool foggy morning. I'm in love with the result.

A Bryan Photo Presents: Luke Ash & Jacob Zachary

I'm excited to present the live recording from our studio show with Luke Ash and Jacob Zachary. I'm so thankful for those that were able to make it to this intimate show in our space. For those that didn't make it to the show, be sure to download this concert and come out to our next show!
Click here to download the concert in its entirety (about 180mb).
Special thanks to the incredible Corey Scoggins for running sound and for making the show available for download.
Enjoy.

Jeremy and Emily (New York)

Last week I posted about my good friend Jeremy and our recent collaboration on his film Terrebonne. While in New York over Christmas, Ashley and I had a chance to have dinner with Jeremy and his wife Emily. I brought my Leica M6 & some Neopan 1600 with me and took some pictures of them after dinner in Columbus Circle. These two stood out as my favorites.
The Wingate's (Thanksgiving at Disney)

This year Ashley and I took our boys to Disney for Thanksgiving with Ashley's family. Our good friends (and A Bryan Photo client!) Bill & Martha Wingate were there at the same time and we set up a family session in Epcot one morning. Here are some of my favorites.

Martha's family was there for a family reunion so I got a chance to photograph her extended family:
I also gave Bill my LOMO (and some Kodak film) for the week so that he could document his time around the parks with his family. I was so happy with Bill's images, I came home and bought the man his own LOMO. I can't wait to see what he captures throughout this year. Here are three that he captured in Disney that I loved:

Terrebonne (Part One)

The above photo is of my life long friend, Jeremy Craig. Jeremy and I went to elementary school together up until the 7th grade when his family moved from Atlanta to Denver. Contrary to the laws of elementary school friendship we actually remained in touch throughout our high school years. Maybe it was the fact that his house in Denver was only an hour away from ski slopes (Loveland Pass) and visiting Jeremy offered a cheap alternative to the typical Daytona Beach spring break. Since high school though we've only seen each other a handful of times. Jeremy has lived in New York with his wife Emily for the last 5 years as Jeremy has pursued writing young adult novels and a film degree at Columbia University. A short film that Jeremy wrote recently won a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and he was able to direct and produce it. The film is called "Terrebonne" and focuses on the relationship of a brother and sister that live in Terrebonne Parish in Southern Louisiana. I was honored when Jeremy asked me to come be the on-set stills photographer for the film. It was incredible working on such an inspiring project and collaborating with an old friend.
Check out the Terrebonne website to read more about the film.
These photos are of my first day shooting, which took place in a barber shop and on some dirt roads.

Annie and Jared (NYC Contest Winners)

Some of you may remember, when the wedding blog Snippet and Ink hosted a contest around our Christmas trip to New York. Contestants were asked to submit why New York at Christmas was important to them. The winner received a photo and 8mm session with us. We had over 300 submissions and Annie and Jared's story won! To view their story, click HERE.
I have to say that I can't imagine a more beautiful couple winning this contest. I loved meeting these two and photographing their engagement images. I'm so jealous that I'm not shooting the wedding also.
Here are some favorite images from the session. Annie's mom and sister joined us for a few as well!
